Am I too old (or too young) for a WellLife Plan?
Nope! WellLife plans are customized based on your age, current flexibility and activity level, and desired goals. WellLife plans can help you get from where you are to where you want to go – the journey will look different for everyone. If you are under 18, you will need parent and/or coach permission and support. Clients 75 or older may also need to see a physician or nutritionist.
If I have another health condition, such as hyperthyroidism, PCSOS, insulin-resistance, diabetes, high cholesterol, or high blood pressure, is WellLife plan right for me?
Yes! WellLife will help you learn the right nutrition for your body to heal, and in some cases the results of healthier lifestyle habits can help alleviate your condition or help you be able to stop medication. You should inform your doctor about the program and make sure to follow all medication instructions. A physician clearance form will be required for some conditions.
Can a WellLife plan help increase fertility?
Yes! Lowering blood sugar is an important step to reducing infertility, and WellLife plans will teach you how to eat so you keep your blood sugar steady all day long, and reduce stress and improve mood at the same time!
If I have tried other weight loss programs before but gained the weight back, how do I know a WellLife will work for me?
Many other programs focus on the number of calories you are consuming, or keep you addicted to pills, shakes, shots, or starving yourself and then binging. As a medical weight loss counselor, Katy witnessed what people go through emotionally and physically while trying to lose weight, and she can help guide you through the process with education, creative menu planning, accountability, and support! WellLife plans focus on what TO eat, rather what you are NOT supposed to eat, and you eat real, whole foods without counting calories. A 5-day Food Log is provided for each week you are in the program, but it is not required to follow the plan or lose weight.
Do I have to exercise as part of my WellLife Plan?
Not necessarily, and in some cases you may be asked to reduce your workouts or wait to start a workout program. Exercise is required in most cases for optimal health and to raise your metabolic rate, which helps you burn calories at rest and can make weight loss happen more quickly. However, in some cases you may be overdoing exercise and are not able to lose weight until your diet improves. It is important to consider many factors when starting an exercise program to stay at optimal health, and Katy can help you find the right balance for you!
Can I follow a WellLife plan if I am a vegetarian or have other dietary restrictions?
Absolutely! WellLife customized plans will be personalized to your needs. Gluten-free, vegetarian, no problem. Your plan will be delivered to accommodate your lifestyle. If you are vegan or have certain food allergies or sensitivities, you may also need to see a registered dietician or nutritionist in order to follow the plan.
Do I have to do my own grocery shopping and cook to follow my WellLife Plan?
You will have to do your own grocery shopping, but you will not have to cook. Katy will guide you through the process, you will have a customized sample grocery list, as well as a virtual grocery store. Even though you will not have to learn how to cook or cook as part of your WellLife plan, a basic understanding and commitment to food preparation is required as part of any healthy lifestyle. Basic chopping & cooking methods are included in the program for those who need it!
Will I get recipes as part of my WellLife Plan?
Since everyone’s plan is slightly different, and not everyone likes to cook, we do not provide recipes. However, if you do like to cook, as part of your counseling sessions, we will help you find great recipes to use or modify that have all the right foods in the right amounts for your plan!
If I am trying to lose weight fast for a wedding, reunion, or other special event, will WellLife work for me?
In most cases, yes! Following this plan requires a commitment to your health long term, learning new strategies, and trying new foods. You will be able to lose a comfortable 2-3 pounds per week using foods you like. You may have to spend a little extra time each week preparing food and making time to eat, but it can work for you if you stay committed! And following a WellLife plan will make it much more likely for you not to gain the weight back after the event, because you know how to eat for your lifestyle and optimal health. You should plan to start at least 2-3 months, ideally 3-6 months, prior to the event to ensure success.
Is there online and/or social support for my WellLife Plan?
Yep! Your weight loss counselor is available for questions via email or text during business hours, and clients can share experiences and support one another through a blog, Facebook group, and Twitter. Small group programs are a great way to go through the program with your friends or meet new people. Anyone who follows the plan will benefit from the support of close family and friends.
